Temporary permission to stay in order to do scientific research

A temporary stay permit in order to do research is granted by a foreign affairs police department to citizens of third countries, on condition that there are no legitimate grounds to refuse their applications, and who are doing scientific research, on the basis of invitation for the period necessary for their goals realization but not extending 2 years. Foreign citizens who have received such a permit are entitled to perform an entrepreneurial activity.

DOCUMENTS TO BE ENCLOSED TO THE APPLICATION

1) 2x photos sized 3x 3.5 cm,
2) Valid international passport,
3) Administration fee payment receipt to the sum of 4.50 Euro.
4) purpose of stay:

• an invitation from an organization in accord with the relevant law

5) absence of previous convictions:

• extract from the criminal record or the applicant’s citizenship-country, translated into the Slovak language and notarized or certified by a translation agency (or a legal translator);
• extract from the criminal record of the country where the applicant has stayed within the last three years for the period exceeding 90 days during 6 months in succession

6) financial provision:

• extract from a bank account opened in the name of the applicant, or a certification of granted scholarship, or a document from an official body of a legal person certifying financial and material sponsorship of the applicant for the whole period of his stay, or a statement from a natural person certifying financial provision of the applicant for the whole period of his stay, with enclosed extract from a bank account certifying the availability of the amount equal to the living-wage per each month of the applicant’s stay (annually it is 2,277.96 Euro).
• an invitation from an organization in accord with a relevant law.
DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED AFTER THE ISSUE OF THE STAY PERMIT:

according to the foreigners stay law an applicant must within 30 days from the issue date of the temporary stay permit submit to a foreign affairs police department a medical insurance certificate valid on the territory of SR.

the applicant who has received a temporary stay permit must within 30 days from its issue date submit to a foreign affairs police department a medical attestation certifying that he has no dangerous diseases. This medical attestation is valid within 30 days from the date of its issue.

(All the documents enclosed to the application must be issued within the last 90 days). The submission of the criminal record extract is not mandatory if the applicant is under the age of 14, or the applicant is applying for the change of the purpose of his stay and is staying legally on the territory of Slovak Republic at the time of his application submission).
