Temporary permission to stay in order to STUDY
A temporary stay permit for the purpose of studying is issued by a foreign affairs police department, on condition that there are no legitimate grounds to refuse the applications from the citizens of third countries, who:- are secondary school students,
- are attendees of foreign language course,
- are students of higher education institutions
- are attendees of preparation courses of foreign languages or professional training arranged by a higer education institution located on the territory of Slovak Republic in order to help enter the institution..
1) 2x photos sized 3x 3.5 cm,
2) Valid international passport,
3) Administration fee payment receipt to the sum of 4.5 Euro,
- Documents certifying
4) purpose of visit:
- a letter from an appropriate state authority or a higher educational institution about the applicant’s admission to the courses or educational institution
5) absence of previous convictions::
- extract from the criminal record or the applicant’s citizenship-country, translated into the Slovak language and notarized or certified by a translation agency (or a legal translator
- extract from the criminal record of the country where the applicant has stayed within the last three years for the period exceeding 90 days during 6 months in succession
6) financial provision:
- extract from a bank account opened in the name of the applicant, or a certificate of granted scholarship, or a document from an official body of a legal person certifying financial and material sponsorship of the applicant for the whole period of his stay, or a statement from a natural person certifying financial provision of the applicant for the whole period of his stay, with enclosed extract from a bank account certifying the availability of the amount equal to the living-wage per each month of the applicant’s stay (annually it is 2,277.96 Euro). For under age citizens of a third country the availability of a half of this amount (i.e. 1138.98 Euro per year) must be confirmed.
- a certificate of property or an extract from a certificate of property, issued by a property cadastre in the name of the person of a third country, or
- a notarized contract of tenancy with the owner or a user of the tenement and an extract from the certificate of property or any other document certifying the accommodation right, or
- a confirmation from a hotel, hostel or boarding house to provide accommodation, or
- a notarized consent from a natural or legal person to provide accommodation to the foreign citizen on the territory of Slovak Republic and an extract from the certificate of property or any other document certifying the accommodation right, or
- an invitation provided it guarantees an accommodation.
- according to the existing legislation a foreign citizen who has obtained temporary stay permit must within 30 days from its issue date submit to a foreign affairs police department a medical certificate attesting that he has no dangerous diseases. This medical certificate is valid within 30 days from its issue.
7) Accomodation / Not required for students of higher educational institutions
A document certifying the availability of accommodation can be:Children aged under 15 may abide on the territory of the country without accompanying person, however the document certifying the provision of temporary accommodation for the period of studies must be signed by a legal representative of the child (his signature must be certified by a notary pubic).
(All the documents enclosed to the application must be issued within the last 90 days). (The submission of the criminal record extract is not mandatory if the applicant is under the age of 14, or the applicant is applying for the change of the purpose of his stay and is staying legally on the territory of Slovak Republic at the time of his application submission).
